The Ultimate Guide for Couples Attending a Wedding Fair: How to Make the Most of Your Experience

Attending a wedding fair can be an exciting and, possibly, an overwhelming experience. With so many suppliers, ideas, and inspiration all in one place, it's essential to be prepared to make the most of your time there. In this guide, I’ll give you some tips and advice on how to navigate a wedding fair successfully and get the most out of your visit.

Before you go to a Wedding Fair: Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!

Plan to get there early so you don't miss out on the goody bags! Also check to see if you need to book. Even if it's free, most fairs ask you to book before hand.

Make a list of what you're looking for, whether it's a wedding dress, photographer, florist, or caterer; but remember, what you know about weddings may have come from those you have been to, or what you have read online or in magazines. The great thing about wedding fairs is that you may discover something that you’ve never heard of before, which will make your wedding day even more special.

If you can, research the suppliers attending the fair and work out who you want to see first and don't forget to bring a notebook, pen, phone (and comfortable shoes!), to take notes and get ideas.

Once you're at the wedding fair (deep breath), here's how you can navigate it without losing the will to live!

First of all stop and have a look around. Where is that business you wanted to visit first? After that, where do you want to go next?

When you talk to suppliers, ask questions about their services, pricing, and availability. Good suppliers will listen and be happy to help.

Take notes on the suppliers you like, including their contact information and any special deals or discounts they may be offering. If they have details of their website, check it out while you’re at the fair and ask them questions. Doing this also means that their page will show up in your history, so you can find them easier after you get home. If you genuinely have an interest in booking them, either at the fair or at some point in the future, then leave your contact details with them and be ready to check your emails, and the spam/junk mailbox, after the fair.

The cool thing about wedding fairs is that many suppliers offer exclusive deals and discounts to those who attend, so make sure that you ask about any special promotions and take advantage of the opportunity to save on your wedding budget by booking services or products at the fair or shortly after.

If there's a fashion show at the wedding fair, don't miss out on the opportunity to get inspiration for your own wedding. The fashion show usually highlights the latest trends and styles, so take note of designers or boutiques featured that you may want to visit later.

Another great thing about wedding fairs is that they are a good place to network. Make the most of the opportunity by exchanging ideas and experiences with other couples and build relationships with suppliers and professionals who can help make your wedding day perfect.

When you get home and have had some cake ;) don't forget to follow up with suppliers you liked to discuss details further. I know it's difficult wading through all the leaflets but try to organise your notes, contact suppliers, and keep track of important deadlines and decisions. Most suppliers at fairs offer discounts and deals for a short amount of time after the fair, so try to keep on top of their deadlines.

Attending a wedding fair can be a fun and worthwhile experience for couples. By following the tips and advice in this guide, you can make the most of your time at the fair, discover new ideas, and take significant steps toward planning your dream wedding. Enjoy the experience, stay organised, and make the most of this exciting journey!
